KHUSHHALI MICROFINANCE BANK AIMS AT A GREENER PAKISTAN WITH WWF

World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Pakistan and Khushhali Microfinance Bank have announced their alliance to serve the cause of making the country greener, by planting 2,500 indigenous trees in various areas of the capital city – Islamabad and Rawalpindi region as part of the WWF-Pakistan’s Tree-A-Thon Activity. The focus area of the project would be public places and educational institutes.

In collaboration with the Capital Development Authority, a plantation drive was launched at Kachnar Park, Islamabad by planting 200 saplings of Kachnar and Pine species. Over 70 employees of Khushhali Microfinance Bank participated in the plantation activity which also included the Bank’s senior management.

Speaking on the occasion, the bank’s CEO and President, Ghalib Nishtar commented: “Our collaboration with WWF goes beyond this activity and extends to different mediums of nature conservation and contribute towards sustainable healthy environment. At work and home we should all make a conscious effort and encourage others to reduce pollution / waste and wherever possible use renewable / recyclable materials”.

 

While Mr. Rab Nawaz, senior Director Programmes, WWF-Pakistan says, “WWF aims to conserve nature and ecological processes. We see sustainable tree growing as having a significant role in stopping the degradation of the planets natural environment and to build a future in which human’s lives in harmony with nature by We are thankful to KMBL for partnering with us and look forward to more collaborations of this nature in the near future.”

WWF has also partnered with other organization in the past to put up a fight against the rising threats of climate change and promote advocacy for the protection of the environment. The organization has been a long-standing supporter of nature conservancy and remains focused on bringing about a measurable environmental change in the country.
