KHUSHHALI MICROFINANCE BANK TRAINS FARMERS IN BHAKKAR TO PROMOTE AGRICULTURE

Khushhali Microfinance Bank regularly organizes trainings for small farmers to promote sustainable agriculture in the country. The activity is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives of Khushhali Microfinance Bank. KMBL formed an alliance with Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) to leverage their technical expertise in agricultural research and training to conduct these trainings.

The first farmers' training for the year 2018 was held in Bhakkar on Jan 29, 2018. KMBL arranged free of cost training for small farmers cultivating pulses/ chickpeas in Bhakkar. Dr Shahid Riaz Malik, Program Leader (pulses), National Agricultural Research Council, conducted the training about the new high yield varieties and effective use of fertilizers and pesticides. Training topics also included information about common pests and effective methods to keep the crop safe and healthy. Productivity of small farmers is limited due to their reliance on outdated farming techniques and lack of awareness. Therefore, the bank actively works to educate farmers to enable them to benefit the most from the funds they invest in agriculture.
